Graduation marks the culmination of your achievements as a UConn student. Completion of the Honors Scholar graduation requirements recognizes you as a UConn “Honors Scholar.” If you are completing a University Scholar project, you are close to adding UConn’s highest academic designation to your profile.
If you expect to graduate within the next two years, consider what you need to do to get ready:
- Review your progress in completing requirements. Refresh your memory of the general requirements for graduating as an Honors Scholar and graduating as a University Scholar.
- Review your transcript after the end of each semester to be sure you are receiving “Honors credit” for your undergraduate Honors courses. (Although it won’t say so on your transcript, graduate courses graded B- or better will also be regarded as generating “Honors credit.”) You will not graduate with an Honors award unless your transcript reflects the required Honors coursework.
What you’ll need to do in your last two semesters:
- Apply to graduate through the Student Administration System (any time in the semester prior to graduation / no later than the fourth week of your last semester). Make sure you have completed the other Steps to a Successful Graduation listed by the Registrar.
- Ensure you have submitted the Honors Final Plan of Study and Thesis Plan. You will not be included in the Honors Medals Ceremony until these forms are completed and filed. Check with your major department if further information is required.
- Know how to submit your thesis. You must submit a hard copy to the Honors Program in ROWE 419 with a signed approval form. University Scholars and Honors Scholars are also encouraged to submit their theses electronically to Open Commons at UConn.
- Review the Graduation Timeline (for fall, December, and spring graduation)
- Note: Graduation deadlines start the semester before you plan to graduate
- Complete the Honors Program Senior Survey
