Most Honors students receive a University merit award (e.g. presidential, academic excellence, leadership) that is used to defray the cost of tuition. It is important to know that in many cases, your university merit award will NOT apply to the costs associated with study abroad/away programs. That is because many study abroad/away program charges are “FEE ONLY.” A University merit award can ONLY be applied to study abroad/away costs when tuition is charged. You must carefully review the “budget sheet” of the program you wish to attend and speak with a Study Abroad advisor to determine whether you will be able to apply your merit award.
