SPRING COURSE SELECTION BEGINS OCTOBER 27!
Spring course selection via the Student Administration system begins on Monday, October 27. Please visit the Honors Registration web page to find out more about the courses being offered, course requirements for the sophomore certificate and graduation, your registration appointment, meeting with your advisor, and much more!
Students working toward the 2009 or 2010 Sophomore Honors Certificate must earn at least three of the required Honors credits from the approved list of Honors Interdisciplinary Core Courses. Offered for the first time in Fall 2006, the Honors Core Curriculum is specially designed for first and second year Honors students. The courses are interdisciplinary and fulfill General Education requirements. Check out these available sections...

Sophomores and juniors in the sciences, math & engineering with research experience, high-GPAs & Ph.D. aspirations are encouraged to apply. Must also be U.S. citizens (or permanent residents with intent to become citizens). A pre-application may be found at www.ons.uconn.edu (click on Goldwater link). ALL ABOUT HONORS CONVERSIONS
Did you convert a class? Keep in mind the following information...
Conversions are approved at the end of the semester when students have finished all the work outlined in their conversion agreement, the work has been evaluated and a B- or above has been earned in the course. The actual "Honors Credit" notation on transcripts may not appear until 2-4 weeks after grades have been submitted depending on volume and processing time.
WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE?
Join Dr. Ann Aresco and Honors alumnus Joanna Hagan for a discussion of naturopathic medicine. Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of health care that uses unique and personalized treatments to care for patients. Physicians use a combination of traditional medical procedures and alternative therapies, such as nutrition counseling, acupuncture, homeopathy, and more. This exciting new event will take place on October 30 at 4:00 p.m. in the Student Union room 325. RSVP to jessamy.hoffmann@uconn.edu by 10/23. An RSVP in the affirmative is a commitment! CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS
IQ UCONN WILL HOST TRIVIA COMPETITION
IQConn is hosting a campus wide trivia competition! The competition will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 9th and will be in the NAQT (National Academic Quiz Tournaments) format. Teams will compete to see who can answer more questions about a broad range of topics, including history, science, art, literature and pop culture. The winning team will be sent to the regional NAQT tournament in February. If interested, please email IQConn@gmail.com with your team name, the names of your team members, and contact information (phone and email) for a team captain. Teams may consist of up to 6 people, but only 4 people may play at a time. Teams will be chosen on a first come, first served basis, so sign up quickly!
The deadline for team registration is Monday, November 3rd.
ATTENTION HONORS STUDENT LEADERS
HOLDUP! (Husky Outreach for Leadership Development, Understanding and Pride) provides UConn students with the opportunity to work directly with area high school students to enhance their leadership skills and self-awareness. HOLDUP! members gain valuable experience working together to develop and present workshop material and mentor high school students while preparing them for a life of leadership beyond high school.

HONORS ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK INFORMATION SESSION
Interested in contributing to the hurricane relief effort? Come join Honors Council as we travel to the Gulf Coast during spring break! Attend one of our two info sessions to learn more about our trip for this year, a little about our trip last year, to pick up an application, and to ask questions! We'll see you there!
