ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE HONORS PROGRAM
OAKLAWN SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION
Each year, the Honors Program sponsors the Oaklawn Scholarship for as many as four exceptional Honors students. The competition is open to sophomores and juniors who did NOT receive merit financial aid from the University. Recipients of this prestigious scholarship are chosen according to academic excellence, involvement in the Honors community, and leadership values. Students will receive awards of up to $2,000 per year ($1,000 per semester) to be applied directly to the student’s fee bill. The deadline to apply this year is March 31, 2009.
Applications can be found online and returned to the Honors office in CUE 419, or emailed to honors@uconn.edu.

Get more out of your PATH experience! If you enjoyed having a mentor…loved working with your mentee…or want to have a say in the future of PATH, here’s your chance! Beginning on February 9, the PATH program will be accepting applications for the positions of Student Coordinator. We’re looking for Marketing and Recruitment Student Coordinators, Peer Ally Relations Student Coordinators, and Programs and Events Student Coordinators. Applications are available in the Honors Office, CUE 419 and are due in the Honors Office by Friday, February 27! If you have questions please e-mail path@uconn.edu.

ENHANCE YOUR LEADERSHIP SKILLS WITH THE GLOBAL
LEADERSHIP COMMISSION!
The Global Leadership Commission (GLC) is seeking new Honors student members! Since Fall of 2004, the GLC has brought several distinguished speakers to the University, including Senator Joseph Lieberman. The GLC invites local, national, and international leaders to campus each year to discuss their path to leadership and what it means to be a global leader with students. Eight student members of the GLC are responsible for planning, organizing, and hosting these speakers.

- Tie Dye – Sunday, March 29 at 4:00 p.m. in the Shippee Pit
- Scavenger Hunt – Sunday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. outside on the side of Wilson that faces Rt. 195
- End of the Year Bash – Sunday, April 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the Shippee Dining Room
100 YEARS OF WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Each year, the Women's Center sponsors the 100 Years of Women Scholarship. This award was established in 1992 to honor a UConn student that has shown commitment to women's issues through service to the community. Applicants must also be a current UConn undergraduate or graduate student who will be enrolled for the Fall 2008 semester, be in need of financial assistance, and demonstrate high academic performance. This award is open to both males and females! Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $1,000. Application forms are available at the UConn Women’s Center (Student Union, Room 421) or the Office of Student Financial Aid Services, located in the Wilbur Cross Building, and must be returned to the Women's Center by February 29, 2009.
