Dr. Catherine Little, Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology, will discuss perfectionism and procrastination, the research around the topic, and her ideas for future studies. UCONN BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING CAREER FAIR

Meet Honors Alumnus from the School of Pharmacy, Marc Castonguay, Ph.D., President & CEO of Metrum Research Group LLC. Dr. Castonguay is looking for SUMMER INTERNS! BME's 4th annual career fair will be held on February 5, 2009, from 12 noon until 5 p.m. in the Rome Ballroom. The fair is open to all students, graduate programs, and companies. $1,000 SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FROM PHI KAPPA PHI

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society. Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants are designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. Fifty $1,000 grants are awarded each year to students with GPA of 3.5 or higher, have taken a minimum of 30 credit hours, and have been accepted into a study abroad program by the deadline of February 11, 2009. Complete applications for the Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants are due by FEBRUARY 11, 2009!

 

PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS FOR GRADUATE STUDY IN THE UK

The Office of National Scholarships is holding an information session on prestigious scholarships for graduate study in the United Kingdom & Ireland. JUNIORS, SENIORS & early GRAD STUDENTS may apply for nomination in SPRING 2009. FRESHMEN & SOPHOMORES should also attend to learn how to become competitive. Come learn about the scholarships and the application process on Wednesday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. in CUE 134. 100 YEARS OF WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Each year, the Women's Center sponsors the 100 Years of Women Scholarship. This award was established in 1992 to honor a UConn student that has shown commitment to women's issues through service to the community. Applicants must also be a current UConn undergraduate or graduate student who will be enrolled for the Fall 2008 semester, be in need of financial assistance, demonstrate high academic performance. This award is open to both males and females! Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $1,000. Application forms are available at the UConn Women’s Center (Student Union, Room 421) or the Office of Student Financial Aid Services, located in the Wilbur Cross Building, and must be returned to the Women's Center by February 29, 2009. DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT TO SUPPORT THE HONORS ALTERNATIVE
SPRING BREAK

Dodgeball Tournament Sun. Feb. 15 12:30pm Hawley Armory
Support the Honors Alternative Spring Break to New Orleans by registering for our Dodgeball Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 15th!!  Teams are 7-10 people and for $7/person with at least 1 guy/1 girl per team.  A prize will be awarded to the first place team!!  To register, please fill out the registration form at www.hc.uconn.edu and drop it off in the Honors office in CUE 419 with your registration fee by February 9.  Even if you don't want to play, come to support your friends and cheer them on!  If you have any questions, please contact catherine.pomposi@uconn.edu.  Hope to see you there!

 

NEW SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR FRESHMEN

Do you think outside the box? The Milton Fisher Scholarship for Innovation and Creativity honors outstanding freshmen at Connecticut and New York colleges who have applied their creativity to solve problems faced by science, the arts, or the community! Awards are up to $20,000 per student -- $5,000 a year for four years! The application can be found online. For more information, visit www.rbffoundation.org!
