The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society. Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants are designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. Fifty $1,000 grants are awarded each year to students with GPA of 3.5 or higher, have taken a minimum of 30 credit hours, and have been accepted into a study abroad program by the deadline of February 11, 2009. Get more out of your PATH experience! If you enjoyed having a mentor…loved working with your mentee…or want to have a say in the future of PATH, here’s your chance! Beginning on February 9, the PATH program will be accepting applications for the positions of Student Coordinator. We’re looking for Marketing and Recruitment Student Coordinators, Peer Ally Relations Student Coordinators, and Programs and Events Student Coordinators. HONORS COUNCIL FACULTY MEMBER OF THE YEAR
At the beginning of each Spring semester, the Honors Council seeks nominations for those in our academic community who have done outstanding work as Honors faculty for the faculty member of the year award. The requirement is that the faculty member taught an Honors course or acted as an Honors adviser in the last calendar year. Nomination forms are available online at www.hc.uconn.edu or in the Honors office. The deadline for nominations is February 11!

2009 STUDENT RESEARCH AWARD COMPETITION - KATIE BU MEMORIAL FUND
The Katie Bu Memorial Fund was established to honor the life and vision of the late Katie Bu. Undergraduate students who will conduct or assist in environmental work designed to solve problems, awaken the public, or contribute original scholarship in the upcoming summer and/or academic year are encouraged to submit proposals for the Student Research Award Competition, funded by the Katie Bu Memorial Fund. Appropriate activities may include, but are not limited to: research, writing, fine arts, advocacy, and organizing. Awards up to $300 will be granted. Submissions are due on or before March 2, 2009! INTERNSHIPS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
Mohonk Preserve is one of America’s largest and most historic private, non-profit nature preserves. For over 40 years the Mohonk Preserve has been protecting over 6,500 acres of the Northern Shawangunk Mountains in Ulster County, New York, and has programs in land stewardship, environmental education, and scientific research. The preserve currently has two internship opportunities for undergraduates!
- The 2009 Schaefer Research Internship at the Daniel Smiley Research Center provides interns an opportunity to work with Preserve research staff, world-class scientists and land managers on: land management related initiatives, recreational impact assessment projects, data collection, specimen collection, and more! Freshmen and Sophomores are eligible to apply.
- The 2009 Thom Scheuer Land Management Internship at the Mohonk Preserve provides interns an opportunity to work with Land Protection and Land Stewardship staff where they will assist with: Baseline Data Report drafting, including GIS mapping and image archiving, boundary line inspection and reporting, conservation easement monitoring. Stewardship related initiatives including: assisting in basic ranger duties, promoting visitor safety and enjoyment, trail and road design, construction, repair, monitor overuse and other impacts on the land. Juniors and Seniors are eligible to apply.

Support the Honors Alternative Spring Break to New Orleans by registering for our Dodgeball Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 15th!! Teams are 7-10 people and for $7/person with at least 1 guy/1 girl per team. A prize will be awarded to the first place team!!
