ATTENTION SENIORS! FINAL STEPS TO GRADUATION IN HONORS
SENIORS – SUBMIT YOUR THESIS ELECTRONICALLY
Seniors, you can submit your thesis electronically and make this significant intellectual achievement available for the world to see! It is highly recommended that as Honors graduates you post your thesis on DigitalCommons@UConn, the institutional repository. IT’S EASY! Once a hard copy of your thesis has been submitted to the Honors Office with a signed approval form, send a copy of your thesis to honors@uconn.edu as an attachment.
Your e-mail should also include: Your name, major, title of your thesis, the name of your thesis advisor, your graduation date, an abstract and 3 to 5 keywords that you feel best describe the subject matter of your thesis! Click here (http://www.honors.uconn.edu/academics/graduation/electronicthesis.php) for more information!
(A hardcopy of the Honors thesis must be submitted to the Honors Office with a signed approval form according to posted deadlines.)
SENIORS – SUBMIT YOUR MANDATORY HONORS SENIOR SURVEY
Required Honors Senior Survey Due: April 15, 2009
Graduating Honors students are required to complete the on-line survey located at https://secure.uconn.edu/honors/applicationsv2/seniorsurvey/index.php. This survey will give you a chance to reflect on and share with us your experiences in the Honors Program. We value your feedback! In addition, we want to hear about your future plans. After you fully complete the survey, you will be able to return and update your future plan information using your permanent e-mail address (not your UConn address) as your logon id. The survey is due on April 15th.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING NATIONAL HONORS SOCIETIES!
Recently, the National Scholars Honor Society (NSHS) was the subject of an investigative television feature - the report can be found at YouTube.com under "honor society scam." NSHS is a for-profit entity whose membership is based on online application and has no required grade point average. The society declines formal affiliation with all institutions and organizations.
The Honors Program would like to remind all Honors students to beware of this and similar scams! Be sure to "do your homework" before submitting payment to a society:
- Visit the organization's website
- Contact chapter officers or advisors
- Visit http://www.achsnatl.org/ for a full listing of the Association of College Honor Societies member organizations
- Visit http://www.honorsocieties.uconn.edu/ for more information on certain honor societies at UConn
- Finally, ALWAYS review the benefits the honor society in question offers, and consider whether your financial investment will yield adequate returns!
