Assistant Director for Residential Communities and Programming
Leigh Fine is the Assistant Director for Residential Communities and Programming in the UConn Honors Programming & Events Office. He coordinates the work of the Honors Programming & Events staff to provide quality learning and development opportunities for UConn Honors students outside of the classroom. Leigh has an interest in fostering UConn Honors students’ leadership capacities, particularly through the UConn University Honors Laureate Leadership Experience. Additionally, he is the primary Honors liaison for Residential Life and the UConn Congressional Internship Program, and he can help interested students connect to these opportunities. Leigh also works on the EGEN 3200 / 3092 course sequence for peer mentors, which trains those who wish to co-facilitate a seminar for incoming first-year Honors students.
Originally from Kansas, Leigh earned his doctorate in sociology from Ohio State University and was a faculty member in leadership studies at Kansas State University before coming to UConn. He has taught classes on leadership, ethics, and peer leader development, and has published on inclusive leadership and assessing student learning. Leigh enjoys traveling the world with his partner, cooking (and eating) new foods, and playing games of any sort — card, video, or tabletop.
