Honors & Enrichment Programs Graduate Assistantship

Effective August 23, 2026 - May 22, 2027

Job Summary:

Graduate Assistantship (20 hours per week) for 2026-2027 Academic Year

The Honors & Enrichment Programs Graduate Assistant will support students in distinct scholarship communities across all UConn campuses by cultivating community and belonging, developing effective communication strategies, facilitating student organization planning activities, as well as managing and gathering data for reporting, evaluation, and planning purposes. The GA will report to the Honors Program Assistant Director for Honors Advising and will support the goals of Honors & Enrichment Programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Honors recruitment events, such as Husky for a Day, Open House, and Honors receptions.
  • Organize weekly communication to assigned student communities with reminders, events, etc.
  • Work with specific student organizations on outreach initiatives, some with external partners, such as with local K-12 schools.
  • Collaborate with the Honors and EP staff to develop events and programs for scholarship communities to fill gaps in experience (e.g. alumni, career, outreach, etc.).
  • Advise student organizations, including advising the executive board and general student body.
  • Assist student groups with programming, events, and other initiatives, including budget planning and tracking support.
  • Collaborate with partners on outreach events.
  • Communicate with student groups about opportunities and expectations using various media channels, including email, social media, and websites.
  • Assess and evaluate programs by staying apprised of best practices, benchmarking, developing learning outcomes, maintaining databases, and reporting for various audiences.
  • Complete special projects or other duties as assigned.
  • Some evening and weekend hours may/will be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a graduate degree at UConn in a related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with research
  • Experience with student affairs
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and implement individual and group programs and services that meet students’ needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Ph.D. at UConn in a related field
  • A degree in a related discipline
  • Experience in an Honors Program or college as a student or staff member
  • Experience working with high-achieving students
  • Experience with assessment and program evaluation
  • Proven ability to work independently and to solve problems and approach challenges in a flexible and/or creative way

        Compensation & Benefits: Stipend consistent with UConn Graduate Employee Union (GEU) rates and successful candidate’s level of education. The GEU contract lists other generous benefits provided, including paid time off, tuition remission, and subsidized health insurance through the Connecticut Partnership Plan.
