Honors Event Requests Honors EventsEvent JournalHonors Event Requests Thank you for submitting your organization's event to the Honors Programming and Events Office. Please use this form if you would like us to consider your event for Honors Event credit or if you would like us to advertise your event to Honors students. The following guidelines apply for Honors Event credit submissions: Applications for Honors Events must be submitted at least two weeks in advance. This firm deadline is to ensure the quality of the event, as well as to allow appropriate time to communicate with Honors students about the event. Your event must fit one or two of the categories listed on the following page in order to count toward students' Honors Events requirement UConn Honors staff must approve Honors Events and their categories. An event may not be advertised as an Honors Event until you receive confirmation of its acceptance from the UConn Honors Program. Campus partners should submit no more than three events per semester for consideration as an Honors Event. UConn students, including RAs and student-led organizations, should submit no more than two events per semester as an Honors Event. Although they may be beneficial for Honors students, please note that we rarely approve informational sessions, recruitment events, or purely social gatherings as Honors Events, as they may not meet the learning outcomes related to University Honors Laureate. If your submission does not meet these guidelines, we may still be able to advertise your event to Honors students. NOTE: This is NOT the space to complete Event Journals for Honors students. Please click this link to receive instructions on how to complete Event Journals for Honors co-curricular credit. For the University Honors Laureate Honors Events requirement, we are happy to accept applications for events that fit at least one of our five categories related to University Honors Laureate students' learning objectives: Career, Professional, & Personal Development: This category will help UConn Honors students to care for themselves as they strive to meet their immediate and future goals while staying whole, healthy, and intellectually engaged. Honors Community Development: This category is meant to foster a sense of community, identity, and engagement with UConn Honors for the mutual benefit of all involved. Academic & Interdisciplinary Engagement: These events support a student’s curricular endeavors by promoting intensive engagement out of the formal classroom with relevant learning; special attention is given to asking students to select events that align with a discipline apart from their primary academic home. Multiculturalism & Global Citizenship: UConn Honors students should have the skills – and desire – to engage stakeholders across borders, social identities, and cultural contexts; recognition of common human dignity while celebrating the diversity of the human experience is a hallmark of an empathetic, contextually-attune citizen-scholar. Social Change, Service, & Sustainability: This category is meant to encourage University Honors Laureates to consider how they might leverage their talents, drive, and time to help improve communities beyond their personal sphere of influence.
