Honors Orientation at Waterbury

This page provides key information for incoming Honors students attending Orientation at UConn Waterbury.

Choosing an Orientation Session

Honors students are strongly encouraged to attend Orientation as early in the summer as possible. Honors sessions will be held during sessions 1-5 and 7 at UConn Waterbury. During Orientation you’ll connect with other incoming Honors students and Honors staff, and you will learn how Honors courses and requirements fit into your first-semester schedule.

If you need to attend a later session or will be attending International Orientation Session, Honors staff will reach out and make sure you are supported.

Honors Orientation Experience

At Orientation, here’s how we’ll help you get started in Honors while staying whelmed:

  • Get Oriented to UConn and get to know your fellow Huskies and Honors Huskies.
  • Participate in University-wide orientation activities and learn about campus resources, student life, and academic expectations
  • Meet with Alyssa Boucher Reilly, an Honors advisor, for academic advising specific to your major and degree requirements and get registered for your fall semester schedule.
  • Connect with other incoming Honors students and Tess Clark, Program Coordinator, Honors & Enrichment, during a portion of the day

Tip: To make the most of Orientation, review the “Before Orientation” tab as soon as possible!

Honors at UConn encourages students to balance challenge with well-being. We call this approach Stay Whelmed – a way of thinking about Honors that values curiosity, connection, and balance as much as achievement. While Orientation introduces you to UConn and helps you prepare for your first semester, you’ll see this philosophy in action throughout your first year. More details are available on the Honors Support tab.
