Overview of Kuali Conversion Apps

The Kuali Build interface can take a little getting used to. Luckily, it is fairly consistent across the different forms you may encounter at UConn.

The Kuali Build home page is located at https://uconn.kualibuild.com/. Most of the time you will be able to follow links from this website or emails you receive, but sometimes you'll need to start from your home page.

Kuali Build packages every form and its workflow into an app. The main conversion app is called Honors Conversion Agreement, and there is a secondary app for instructors called Honors Conversion Plan.

Every time you open an app (form), a new document is created. From the Kuali Build home page, you can see all the documents that you have created under My Documents. Any documents that are waiting for you to complete a task or approve them can be found under Action List. See UConn's Knowledge Base article for details.

Instructors: Some apps give you limited permissions to view a list of their documents. If you need to do this, there will be explicit instructions. For now, just know that you can take different actions from the two different views.

Whenever you are viewing a document, there will be action buttons at the top right. They'll vary based on your role/task at the time, but may include:

  • Save: This creates a draft of the document that you may return to later.
    • During the initial document creation, you can find the draft under My Documents. Once you have opened My Documents, switch from Submitted to Drafts.
    • During approvals or other tasks, you should return to the document via your Action List.
  • Submit: Only for the initial document creation
  • Mark Complete: Equivalent to Submit for task steps.
  • Approve, Send Back, and Deny: Actions that may be available on Approval steps. Use Send back if you want the document creator to have the ability to correct errors and resubmit. Use Deny to end the workflow for the document.
    • Approval comments are optional and may be visible to the creator
    • Send back comments are required. They may be visible to the creator, and they may be included in notification emails. The Honors Conversion Agreement App does include these comments in notifications.
    • Deny comments are also required and potentially visible to the creator. However, they cannot be included in notification emails. Because of this limitation, the Honors Conversion Agreement App asks you to put your reason for denial on the form itself.
  • Edit: When you open an existing document, it may open in read-only mode. The Edit button will be active if you have permission to change the document.
  • Discard: Discards any unsaved document changes. If the document has never been saved or submitted, discards the document entirely.
  • Withdraw: Removes your document from all workflows, regardless of its current status.
  • Duplicate: Copies all visible fields from the current document into a new one, where it may be edited and submitted.
