Welcome to the Honors Program at the University of Connecticut!
Whether you are a current student, a prospective student, a faculty member, an alum, or a family member, you will find information here that is tailored to your specific needs. In developing this site, our goal is to bring resources for success to your fingertips.
I also hope you will develop a sense of the UConn Honors experience while exploring these pages. You’ll find information about the challenging courses and curricular requirements that define the Honors academic experience. Honors classes with top UConn faculty members are just the beginning. You will also learn more about the ways this program adds depth and breadth to a student’s education through independent studies, undergraduate research, internships, and/or graduate courses. These experiences culminate in an Honors thesis or piece of creative scholarship which builds important skills for the future beyond UConn.
The core of Honors is academics, but that central focus is nestled in a personalized collegiate experience. Dedicated Honors staff members and Honors advisors in every major provide the feel of a small college with all of the benefits provided by a top public research institution. This is augmented by a strong Honors community which includes dedicated Honors housing and more than 100 annual programs designed for intellectual, cultural, and social enrichment. Finally, we believe our community extends beyond UConn, and you’ll see this in our Honors education abroad programs and the leadership opportunities our students enjoy through service.
The UConn Honors Program is a special place, and I hope this website will give you a glimpse into our community of scholars. Thank you for visiting, and I hope you will contact us if you have questions. We are happy to help in any way.
Best regards,
Jennifer Lease Butts, Ph.D.
