Honors Orientation at Storrs

This page provides key information for incoming Honors students attending Orientation at Storrs.

Choosing an Orientation Session

Honors students are strongly encouraged to attend Sessions 1 – 12 at Storrs.  These are the sessions that include dedicated Honors Orientation programming and course registration support, where you’ll:

  • Connect with other incoming Honors students in Honors Orientation groups, which include students from multiple Schools and Colleges
  • Learn how Honors courses and requirements fit into your first-semester schedule

If you need to attend Sessions 13-15 or the International Orientation Session, your orientation group will be assigned based on School or College rather than Honors.  The Honors Program will provide guidance to ensure you are prepared and supported for your Orientation session!

Honors Orientation Experience

At Orientation, here’s how we’ll help you get started in Honors while staying whelmed:

Day 1 – Get Oriented to UConn with Your Fellow Honors Huskies

  • Participate in University-wide orientation activities and learn about campus resources, student life, and academic expectations
  • Meet with advisors in your School or College for academic advising specific to your major and degree requirements
  • Connect with other incoming Honors students in your Honors Orientation group and begin building your Honors community

Day 2 – Honors Advising and Registration

  • Learn how Honors courses and requirements fit into your first-semester schedule
  •  An Honors Orientation advisor will help you register for Fall 2026 classes, taking into account your interests and any credits you may be bringing in.

Tip: To make the most of Orientation, review the “Before Orientation” tab as soon as possible so this information is familiar before you register on Day 2.

Honors at UConn encourages students to balance challenge with well-being. We call this approach Stay Whelmed – a way of thinking about Honors that values curiosity, connection, and balance as much as achievement. While Orientation introduces you to UConn and helps you prepare for your first semester, you’ll see this philosophy in action throughout your first year. More details are available on the Honors Support tab.
