1147Q. Honors General Chemistry I

Prerequisites: Open to Honors students, others with consent. Not open for credit to students who have passed CHEM 1124Q or 1127Q or 1137Q. Students who have passed CHEM 1122 will receive only two credits but four credits will be used for calculating the GPA.

Grading Basis: Honors Credit

Designed to provide a foundation for more advanced courses in chemistry. Atomic theory, laws and theories concerning the physical and chemical behavior of gases, liquids, solids, and solutions. Quantitative measurements illustrating the laws of chemical combination in the laboratory component. Considerable personal initiative will be demanded of students in carrying out the laboratory assignments. Designed primarily for exceptionally well-prepared science and engineering students, although any qualified honors student may take it; can be used as an alternate wherever CHEM 1127Q is listed as a prerequisite.
