Many Honors students receive a University merit award (e.g. presidential, academic excellence, leadership) that is used to defray the cost of tuition. It is important to know that, in many cases, your university merit award will NOT apply to the costs associated with study abroad/away programs. Several study abroad programs charge program fees in lieu of tuition, but University merit awards can ONLY be applied to study abroad costs if UConn tuition is charged. You must carefully review the budget sheet of the program you wish to attend and speak with a Experiential Global Learning advisor to determine whether you will be able to apply your merit award.
Please note that beginning Fall 2023, students will be able to leverage their UConn tuition to participate in all UConn Semester Experiential Global Learning programs.
