For 2026-2027, there will be a waitlist for Honors Upper Division Housing. We will be sending offers on February 23, March 4, and March 13. Students who receive an offer will have 1 week to complete the binding Residential Community Acceptance Form in MyHousing or request to be placed back on the waitlist with their roommate.
Why are we implementing a waitlist for Honors housing?
Demand for Upper Division Honors housing has greatly increased over the last few years. We're thrilled that so many of you value the Honors community, but we simply do not have the allocated space for all who are interested. We are using the waitlist to get as close to full as possible without taking away space needed for our incoming first-year students.
How will the Honors Housing Waitlist work?
All Honors students who are guaranteed Campus Housing and indicated a preference for Upper Division Honors will be given a priority number as follows:
- Students campus changing to Storrs for Spring 2026 or Fall 2026
- Current first-year students
- Current second-year students
- Current third-year students.
Each of these priority numbers is sub-divided into two groups based on whether the student completed the Honors housing interest survey by December 1. (This benefit of an on-time submission was included in our emails and web sites in November.) We will attempt to make offers to an entire group of students at a time, but if that is not possible, students within the group will be randomized.
Because the community selection on the housing application is not binding, we are using information from the Honors housing interest survey and past patterns to estimate the likelihood of a given student claiming a space when offered.
Completing the interest survey is still helpful! It will not affect the likelihood of you receiving an offer for Honors housing, but it will help us better estimate the number of offers to make.
The Honors housing waitlist is not the same as the Campus housing waiting list. Everyone on the Honors housing waitlist has already been guaranteed campus housing. The only question is whether or not that housing will be in the Honors community.
Why am I on the Honors Housing Waitlist? My friend with fewer credits than me received an offer.
The Honors housing waitlist is not based on the number of credits earned. Instead, it is based on when someone began at UConn. To make sure that newer students have the ability to fully establish themselves in a community at Storrs, they have higher priority for a place in Honors housing. Selection pick times (in other words, room desirability) will be based on earned credits.
What if I am on the Campus Housing waiting list?
Campus Housing will start offering housing to those on its waiting list after room selection has taken place. If you are offered housing, you may be able to move into Honors housing during summer room change.
Does being on the Honors Housing Waitlist mean I’ll get “leftover” rooms?
No! Selection times will be generated after all three rounds of Honors housing offers. If you are offered and accept a space in the Honors community in any of the three rounds, you will be assigned a selection time based solely on your number of completed credits.
I’m on the Honors Housing Waitlist. What happens if I am never offered a space in Honors housing?
Anyone still on the Honors Housing Waitlist after March 13 will be moved to general selection. If you are still interested in living in the Honors community, you're encouraged to apply during the summer room change process.
I’ve been offered Honors housing. Can you tell me what room types will be available before I commit?
Sadly, we will not be able to estimate room availability until at least the second round of offers. Once you complete the Residential Community Acceptance form, you will be committed to selecting a room in Snow, the Honors floors of Connecticut Hall, or Shippee.
If you are unhappy with your room choices, you may request a new space inside or outside of the Honors community during the summer room change process.
What if I completed the Residential Community Acceptance form but now I have changed my mind?
The Residential Community Acceptance form is binding. You must select a room in Snow, the Honors floors of Connecticut Hall, or Shippee during your selection time. You may request a new space outside of the Honors community during the summer room change process.
What if I am offered a space in Honors housing but miss the 1 week deadline?
Like all Housing deadlines, this deadline is firm.
If you neither complete the binding Residential Community Acceptance Form in MyHousing nor request to be placed back on the waitlist with your roommate by the 1 week deadline, you will be moved to general housing selection with no penalty. You will not receive another offer for the Honors community; in other words, you will not be placed on the Honors housing waitlist.
What if I am planning on rooming with another Honors student, but one of us is offered Honors housing and the other one is on the Honors Housing Waitlist?
If you are the student who is offered Honors housing, you have three choices:
If you know that you want to live in Honors housing, even if it means having a different roommate, complete the Residential Community Acceptance Form by the deadline.
This is the only way to guarantee a space in Honors housing, but it is binding. If your desired roommate receives an offer for Honors housing in a later round, you can still live together. However, if your desired roommate is not offered Honors housing, you will not be able to match in My College Roomie.
If you have decided not to live in Honors housing, do nothing.
After the 1 week deadline, you will be moved to general housing selection. (See the previous question for details.)
If you want to live in Honors housing, but only if your desired roommate can as well, request to be placed back on the Honors Housing Waitlist with them.
If you complete the request form instead of the Residential Community Acceptance Form, you will be placed back on the Honors Housing Waitlist with them. You will be offered a space in Honors housing again only if your desired roommate is. Otherwise, you will be moved to general housing selection.
Please note that you will only be able to name one desired roommate on the form. However, multiple people can name the same desired roommate. This coulld be useful if you are trying to keep a group of suitemates together.
